Building from Singapore, for the world

Why a two-product software house in Singapore builds global-first: the constraints that shaped us, and the advantages nobody mentions.

KAVIO builds from Singapore. Not "for Singapore" — from it. The distinction shapes almost every product decision we make.

The constraint that became a strategy

Southeast Asia is a brutal first market for horizontal software: ten countries, dozens of languages, wildly different buying behaviour, and thin software budgets. You cannot survive here selling one-country software. So we never built any. QueryOn measured AI visibility across hundreds of locales and dozens of languages from its first release — because our first ten prospects were in six countries.

That constraint turned out to be the product's edge. Tools built for the US market treat "international" as an add-on tier. We treat it as the default, because for us it always was.

What building here actually gives us

  • Cost discipline. Engineering talent here is excellent and the burn is a fraction of the Valley's. Our products reach profitability on seed-sized capital.
  • Timezone leverage. We ship while our US competitors sleep, and our support day overlaps Europe's morning and America's evening.
  • A front-row seat to the next billion users — who are meeting AI assistants before they ever meet a search results page.

Where this goes

The playbook stays the same as we grow: build global-first products from a small, senior team in Singapore; run them ourselves; write down what we learn. This blog is where we do the writing.
